Huddle

A digital platform facilitating holistic ADHD coaching
Challenge

To design a digital platform that would improve our stakeholder's ability to coach individuals with ADHD as someone with ADHD himself.

Team

For this challenged I was joined by two other designers from Experience Haus.

Outcome

We developed the end-to-end concept for him to further develop.

Setting the scene
The prevalence of ADHD in adults globally is 3.4%
However…
The prevalence of ADHD in people aged under 18 is much higher at 7.2%.

Therefore it is likely that many adults have never been diagnosed with ADHD.

What is ADHD?

“Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people's behaviour.”

‘ADHD people are just people with brains that work a lot faster than other people. I define it in positive terms rather than focusing on the negative attributes that come with ‘disorders’’

Quote
"ADHD isn't a disability, it's a difference"
~Individual with ADHD
Insight
When considering their internalised difference, people with ADHD can feel lonely.

Loneliness is a major pain-point between coaching sessions.

Actionable Insight
Our platform should support, sustain and develop coach-client relationships.
Quote
"Most people with ADHD are so exhausted, they don't have the energy to make sense of what's going on in their head."

~ADHD coach

Insight
The struggle to keep track of commitments and tasks often makes people with ADHD feel inadequate in comparison to neuro-typical individuals.
Actionable Insight
Our platform has to help in structuring weekly tasks and periodical goals in an empowering fashion that encourages individuals to complete tasks through the incorporation of useful notifications.
Quote
"Someone with ADHD could be distracted by all the different things on the gadget."

~ADHD coach
Quote
"Any ADHD person will tell you that productivity tools only work for a short amount of time

~ADHD coach
Insight
Apart from reporting that mobile devices may cause distractions, both participant groups were sceptical that engagement with a digital tool would outlast users' initial enthusiasm
Actionable Insight
Our platform will limit distractions and avoid being overwhelming by sustaining a consistent dialogue between coach and client in a neutral, yet structured environment.
